The Mary Claire Project is currently raising funds to support no-cost burial services offered in the Central Texas region, as well as to meet our mission of expanding access to similar services throughout the state of Texas.
What are donations used for?
Caskets
The Mary Claire Project provides families with a wooden casket for burial. Each small casket (for babies under 20 weeks old) costs us $11 to build. Each large casket (for babies older than 20 weeks) costs us $18 to build. For every $30 in donations you provide the project, you’re helping 2-3 families lay their child to rest.
Purchase of Burial Gardens
In the next year, the Project aims to expand to two additional cemeteries. To do so, we must purchase and develop burial gardens. While costs for purchase and development of each burial area will vary based on the cemetery, we’re anticipating at least $2,500 in expense for each new burial garden developed.
Getting the Word Out
A major goal of The Mary Claire Project is education. A miscarriage is a challenging time in which families face many questions. We’re developing resources for families to receive in the moments after they hear about the loss of their child in miscarriage, as well as information for doctors and hospitals to help inform patients about their options for burial and cremation. Finally, we’re focused on getting word out to funeral homes and cemeteries to bring new partners into the project to offer services to families who experience this loss.
Are there other ways we can help?
Thank you for your desire to support The Mary Claire Project. Here are a few options to help us out:
Pray for the success of the project – Yes, first and foremost we need your prayers. Pray for the project to expand its reach. Pray for the families who will be personally impacted by it. Just pray – there’s no wrong way!
Spread the word- We want anyone needing the assistance of The Mary Claire Project to know we exist. Share this link with your friends, tell your doctors, nurses, midwives, doulas… We need to educate people so they know expense free burial is an option for their child.
Growth Partnerships – Right now we only have partnerships with hospitals, funeral homes, and cemeteries in the greater Austin metro area. We want The Mary Claire Project to exist anywhere it is needed. If you know anyone who might like to partner with us to bring The Mary Claire Project mission to their area please direct them to us.
