A Man Named Ray

Prayer

The call came in around 9:00a.m. on a Monday.  On the other end of the line was a man named Ray –  in Austin on the unfortunate errand of helping his daughter through her impending miscarriage.

“She found your information on the internet and handed me a piece of paper with your name and phone number on it,” Ray said.  “We want to bury my grandchild…please tell me what to do.”

Luckily, as Ray’s daughter was in the Austin area, we were able to point them in the direction of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Cemetery and The Gabriel’s Funeral Chapel in Georgetown.

A few days later, I gave Ray a phone call to check in and make sure he’d received the help he needed.  He broke down in tears.

“I can’t tell you how loved we feel,” Ray said.  “Everyone who we’ve worked with has been amazing, loving and compassionate.”

“I live in Southern California,” he said.

“I don’t know if anything like this exists where I live… but it should exist everywhere.”

To put it simply, we couldn’t agree more with Ray.  Since our launch, The Mary Claire Project has been hard at work sowing the seeds to create new partnerships to expand free or low cost burial options for Texas families experiencing a miscarriage.  We look forward to reporting good news in that area in the months ahead.

Until then, know that your support in getting The Mary Claire Project off the ground meant that Ray’s daughter (along with three other families in recent weeks) had someone to call to in their moment of need.

We are thankful for each of you, for your support, and for your prayers.  We’ve only just begun to see how The Mary Claire Project will affect the lives of many.  God bless you this Thanksgiving week!

Sincerely,
Chris & Michelle Williston
